Challenge
“Travel Safe” is a mobile app developed in 2017. Lithuanian and global Lithuanians travelling abroad can register their upcoming trip, get information about (un)recommended destinations and risks, find information for emergencies, and access consular assistance. Although the app has been available for 7 years, its popularity has been low, with only a small number of citizens and the target audience using the useful information.
Actions
Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we developed and implemented a dissemination plan for the project and developed the concept of a short-term social media campaign “Travel safe with your phone in your pocket!”. The content of the campaign depicts various travel emergencies where the “Travel Safe” app on your phone can be a significant help. The communication also educated the audience about the app’s features, benefits and user benefits. Additionally, we prepared materials (texts and visual displays) that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs uses to present the app at exhibitions, events and other initiatives.
Results
The implementation of the campaign dissemination plan and the social media campaign “Travel safe with your phone in your pocket!” has led to an increase in the number of downloads and active users of the “Travel safe” app. In addition, the promotion of the app at events and exhibitions has contributed to a wider dissemination of information and positive user feedback.
