CHALLENGE

Fraud schemes are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and anyone can fall victim—regardless of age, education, or location. Romantic, investment, and phone scams cause significant financial and emotional losses every year. Therefore, it is crucial not only to inform the public about these threats but also to provide practical knowledge on how to avoid them. The Money Laundering Prevention Competence Center approached us to create an educational campaign aimed at helping people recognize scammers’ tactics and protect their finances and personal data.

ACTIONS

In creating the campaign, we aimed to use real-life stories that would help viewers recognize scammers’ tactics and understand that these situations can happen to anyone. We produced a series of three video clips highlighting the most common types of fraud: romantic, investment, and phone scams. The scripts were based on real people’s experiences, conveying both informational and emotional aspects.

For the visual concept, we chose a compelling approach: in each video, a person sits against a dark background, their face initially hidden. They share their story, accompanied by illustrated text messages that visually demonstrate how the scam schemes work. As the narrative unfolds, the lighting gradually changes to reveal the storyteller’s face. In the final scene, it becomes clear that they are not alone—others who have experienced similar situations sit beside them. This approach sends a clear message: if this story feels familiar, pause and take action, because anyone can fall victim to scammers.

RESULTS

The campaign reached a wide audience, as the videos were broadcast on the LRT channel, ensuring their visibility and distribution. Thanks to targeted communication, information about fraud risks became accessible to a broad segment of the public.
